What is hemp-derived CBD?
Hemp-derived CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that naturally occurs in hemp. It is a compound found primarily in the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. A safe, non-addictive substance, CBD is one of more than a hundred “phytocannabinoids,” which are unique to cannabis and give the plant its robust therapeutic profile.
CBD is closely related to another well known active phytocannabinoid: tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that causes the high that cannabis is famous for. These are the two components of cannabis that have been most studied by scientists. Both CBD and THC have significant therapeutic attributes. But unlike THC, CBD does not make a person feel “stoned”. That’s because CBD and THC act in different ways on different receptors in the brain and body.
CBD can actually lessen or neutralize the psychoactive effects of THC. CBD and other cannabinoids like CBG and CBN offer the health benefits of cannabis without the feeling of being intoxicated.
Many people are seeking cannabis as an alternative to pharmaceutical medicine. Cannabis has been shown to effectively provide relief for chronic pain, anxiety, inflammation, depression and many other conditions without the harsh side effects.
The Endocannabinoid System
To understand how CBD and the other phytocannabinoids work in the body, there must be an explanation of the endocannabinoid system, a complex network inside each and every one of us that maintains balance throughout our entire body and mind. Though “cannabinoid” sounds like something we only consume from the outside, the body actually produces its own cannabinoids to help regulate functions like mood, pain, and sleep. Yet despite being internally and naturally produced, these cannabinoids can become diminished due to internal imbalances and external stressors. Supplementing the body’s natural cannabinoids with CBD can help bring the body back to balance, and in doing so, puts our body and mind at an optimal state of wellbeing.
Is CBD Legal?
The 2018 Farm Bill includes a provision that legalizes the cultivation of hemp (cannabis with less than 0.3 percent THC). The U.S. hemp industry is currently experiencing a huge resurgence because of the popularity of CBD.
CBD is now ubiquitous in brick-and-mortar shops and online, but because there is no government oversight by the FDA on the quality or recommended dosage of CBD there is a huge variance of products on the market.
Baseline was developed to offer a superior product in both quality and effectiveness.

- CBD can be effective whether ingested orally or applied topically.
CBG and CBN are increasingly being shown to be powerful cannabinoids in their own right, sharing the spotlight as effective pain relievers alongside CBD.
What is CBD not?
- CBD will not get you high. Extracted from the hemp plant, our full-spectrum CBD does not contain more than .3% THC, the psychoactive compound found in cannabis.
CBD is not addictive. On the contrary, the more often you take it, the more effective it becomes.
What is full-spectrum CBD?
- Full-spectrum CBD products contain an array of beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes but less than .3% THC. Full-Spectrum CBD is the least processed CBD on the market, preserving the most natural beneficial properties compared to “isolate” or “broad-spectrum.”
